Sasha and Jasmine (aka Jazz or Jazzy) cooling off

Like the rest of the country it’s pretty hot here and expected to stay that way for a while. Chris and Kathy, our neighbors, shared one of their spots they take their dog Jazz. (btw, Jazz is a very sweet dog and Sasha’s best buddy).

Love this time of year here in Central Oregon!

Doing homework in hopes of a follow-up interview

Our covered front porch is one of those oases we all try to create for ourselves. I don’t care what it is I am handling, but I seem to enjoy it more if I do it at one of my quiet zones.

Sasha loves the front porch too as it gives her pretty good line of sight to any potential visitors.

(having a microbeer while doing this is a total bonus 😉

Project is done

It’s always nice to complete a project, especially one that is needed right away to help us out.

I had a little bit of a hard time with the nailing piece because of my hand joint issues, but thankfully it is a small roof.

Sasha decided to help me too, which is always fun 😉

Now I need to switch gears and finish splitting and sticking wood for the next year’s usage.

Shed lean-to project

Working on one of two “must do” projects before I either take a long break this summer or head off to work.

We really need to have more space based on getting snow tires, having 4 bikes, and other extra outdoor / garden stuff left over as a result of combining two households. I hope to have this one done in a few days.

While Momma is gone…

Yesterday we went for a walk on the BLM land for about an hour. Sasha always enjoys being with her buddy Jazz.

She was so tired out she pretty much was a “normal” dog the rest of the day. Normal means not in puppy mode.

She’s definitely missing Shelley but we’ve gotten into a rhythm. Just two more days and we will test out how we do when I am home 24/7.

Birdhouse repaired and mounted

Had to repair a section of the cabin birdhouse built by Wayne Dad for Shelley.
A squirrel romantic rendezvous resulted in tons of moss and other warm insulation in the main compartment. (baby squirrels are fine, daddy squirrel lost a fight with a neighborhood cat sadly).
I had to disassemble a section to properly clean out the nest. It’s now mounted and looks none the worser for the activity last year.

Side note: I saw “junior” checking out the location where the birdhouse is mounted over the weekend so maybe he will move in?

Main winter projects done, ready to hibernate

It’s all came together this weekend. I got some decent weather and could wrap up things I wanted to complete before the arrival of Sasha. Who knows how she will impact our lives.

I can’t take credit for the sign that Wayne Dad made but I really like how it looks mounted over the dog run closer to the center rather than centered under the roof (which is offset).

The steps turned out better than I expected and I envision a small sign or crafty decorative side updates to make the steps less bland.

I’m going to take a small break then generate a list of smaller winter shop projects and the bigger ones I will do this spring and summer.

Can’t wait to break in a new Shop Dog!

Workshop in full swing

Spending the day out in my workshop. Probably tomorrow too. The wonderful thing about living here is I can spread out projects and do them in a sequence that makes sense to me.

Today I am finalizing Sasha’s food/water dish holder, and have put in the post for a man gate on the front of the property so we can leave the driveway gate closed but people can still easily come on the property.

I’ve included a photo of the shop, where no less than 4 main projects are in various stages of completion. Hidden is the bed steps project. I am at a short pause to sleuth through the right way to attach the carpet runners.

I’m working on a sign for Sasha’s doggie door inside the shop. That one is just for fun ;-). Dad Shannon has made a wonderful and very beautiful sign for Sasha’s dog run. Can’t wait to mount it and take photos. Every dog we’ve had at La Pine Dad has made a sign for. What a special treat for him to make one for our newest family addition.
